Newly refurbished train cars of Trainkos were damaged and vandalized this Saturday at the Hani i Elezit Railway Station, according to reports from the Kosovo Police.

The news was confirmed by Kanun Veseli, spokesperson for the Kosovo Police in the Ferizaj region.

“The state prosecutor has been contacted, and the case has been classified as ‘Destruction or Damage to Property’. The case is being investigated by the Investigations Unit,” Veseli stated.

Following the incident, Trainkos issued a public statement calling for a full investigation and accountability for those responsible.

“Since the beginning of this project in 2019, the damages to the enterprise have been substantial: financial losses exceeding €10 million, loss of customers and reputation, and significant shifts of passengers from rail to road transport.
These consequences will continue to be felt for a long period, and full recovery will take years. This act of vandalism is a direct attack on public property and on our efforts to modernize and improve railway services,” Trainkos wrote on Facebook.
