An explosion occurred today at Stan Tërg during the process of emptying ash from a transport cistern.
The incident was confirmed by the Trepça enterprise, which stated that its technical team intervened immediately. The event took place during the first shift, around 10:15 AM, while ash was being discharged from a transport tanker within Trepça’s operational premises.
During the connection of the truck’s hose, a loud noise was heard from the upper part of the cistern, and damage to the lid was observed, resulting in a small amount of ash being released and a layer of dust forming in front of the facility.
“The technical team immediately intervened, necessary checks were carried out, and it was determined that the auxiliary equipment (the silo pipe and the discharge hose) were functional. According to initial assessments, the probable cause was the weakening of the lid’s bolts, which allowed pressure to build up and cause damage. Fortunately, no injuries or material damage were reported. After the technical intervention, the equipment was returned to regular function, and work continued normally,” the statement said.
