Around five months after the initial hearing, Vladimir Toliq, Blagoje Spasojeviq, and Dushan Maksimoviq, who are accused of the terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvecan, will return to court to face justice.
After the Court of Appeals confirmed the ruling that validated the indictment issued by the Basic Court in Pristina, the latter has scheduled the trial session.
The hearing for the three defendants, who are in custody, has been scheduled for April 17.
“Regarding your request for information, we inform you that the trial session in the criminal case against the defendants V.T., B.S., and D.M. is scheduled to take place on 17.04.2025 at 09:30.”
However, the family of the police officer who was killed in the Banjska attack has not been notified about this session.
Their lawyer, Arianit Koci, stated that they have not received any notification about the session and emphasized that the judiciary should prioritize this matter.
“One of the reasons why almost no one in our society is satisfied with the courts is this; you are informed that the session is scheduled, but I do not have this information, this is unacceptable. Secondly, I understand that the courts are very overloaded, but delaying a case of national interest, especially one that endangered national security, is unacceptable,” Koci said.
At the initial hearing held last October, the three defendants did not plead guilty to the charges brought by the Special Prosecution.
Meanwhile, the trial for the other 42 individuals remains in limbo.
“The Supreme Court has left the decision to the discretion of the first-instance court, the presiding judge, to decide. I am prepared for both options. As for the fugitives, there are measures; they cannot leave Serbia, and they don’t have a normal life,” Koci added.
In September of last year, the Special Prosecution of Kosovo raised charges against 45 individuals for terrorism, financing terrorism, and other serious crimes.
The Special Prosecution charged Milan Radojičić as the leader of the group responsible for the attack that occurred on September 24, 2023. Radojičić is still at large.
