The Basic Court in Prishtina is holding today’s hearing in the case of Zoran Kostiq, who is accused of war crimes committed during the war in Kosovo.

According to the indictment filed on May 16, 2024, the defendant Zoran Kostiq, as a member of the Serbian police forces, together with other members of the police, army, and Serbian paramilitaries, wearing a police uniform and armed, knowingly and intentionally took part in an organized attack against the civilian Albanian population—specifically targeting the Ujkani family during a coordinated military offensive.

The indictment states that Serbian forces had taken control of the house of Sh.Z., which was used as a command post by the police and army during the operation.

Furthermore, on May 22, 1999, Kostiq, in collaboration with other unidentified individuals, allegedly ordered the expulsion of Albanian civilians from their homes, forcing them toward the city cemetery, where men were separated from women and children. Among the victims were members of the Dallku family — M.D., A.D., F.D., E.D., SH.D., V.D., V.D., V.D., L.LL — and three individuals with the surname Haliti.
