The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has reacted following his two-hour phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rks News reports.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated that the call went “very well” and that he expects Russia and Ukraine to immediately begin negotiations for a ceasefire.
According to Trump, the success of a deal to halt the fighting will ultimately depend on the warring parties themselves.
“The terms for a ceasefire will be a negotiation between Ukraine and Russia, because they know the details of a deal that no one else would be aware of,” he wrote.
Trump also praised the atmosphere of the conversation with the Russian leader.
“The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. If it weren’t, I would say so now.”
