On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States will impose a base tariff of 10% on imports from all countries around the world, including Kosovo and other countries from the Western Balkans.
He also announced higher tariffs on dozens of countries with a trade surplus with the U.S., increasing the risk of a trade war and rising inflation.
The tariff on goods imported from Kosovo is set at 10%, while the tariffs for Albania are also 10%, for Serbia 37%, Bosnia and Herzegovina 35%, and North Macedonia 33%.
Speaking at the White House, Trump stated that a tariff of 34% will be imposed on imports from China, 20% on those from the European Union, 25% on South Korea, and 24% on Japan.
The products Kosovo exports to the U.S. include food, beverages, textiles, mattresses, and products made of wood and plastic.
