U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out the possibility of sending American troops to Ukraine as part of security guarantees for the country.
Trump stated that France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are among the nations “interested” in deploying forces on the ground, adding that “I don’t think it will be a problem,” according to BBC reports.
“You have my assurance, and I am the president,” he said, emphasizing, “I am simply trying to stop people from being killed.”
The President highlighted that other countries are “ready to send personnel on the ground.”
Trump also spoke about his recent discussions with global leaders at the White House, referring to them as “good people” who “want to end the war.” He noted that the Ukraine conflict is more immediate for them because “we have an ocean separating us.”
“So, it’s a different situation for them. When it comes to security, they are willing to send personnel on the ground,” he added, as reported by BBC.
The President emphasized that while the U.S. is ready to assist with security aspects—such as air support—he stressed that NATO membership cannot serve as the primary security framework for Ukraine.
