U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would like to see leaders in Iran capable of governing effectively and building the country.

“Ideally, we would like to see someone there who knows what they are doing. In other words, they can build a country,” he told reporters, referring to the future leadership of Iran.

In an interview with ABC News on March 8, Trump emphasized that any future Supreme Leader of Iran would also need U.S. approval to maintain long-term power.

Regional tensions escalate
Tensions in the Middle East have intensified following a joint U.S.-Israeli military operation launched on February 28 against Iran, which targeted several major cities, including the capital, Tehran. The White House justified the strikes by citing suspected missile and nuclear threats from Iran.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced retaliatory attacks targeting Israel. Additional strikes were reported against U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Reports indicate that the joint U.S.-Israeli operation resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with several high-ranking officials from the Iranian leadership.

The situation underscores the escalating instability in the region, raising concerns about further military confrontations and the potential impact on global security.
