U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism that a full ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine is likely to be achieved “very soon.” Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump stated that negotiations for a ceasefire agreement are actively ongoing, suggesting that an end to the conflict could be imminent.
“We will soon have a full ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war,” Trump told the press, as reported by CNN.
The President emphasized that discussions are currently focused on a potential agreement involving territorial division between the two countries. “We’re going to have a deal, it’s being negotiated as we speak,” Trump explained, referring to talks on matters such as land division and other related issues.
Trump reiterated his commitment to bringing the war to an end, stressing the importance of stopping the ongoing violence and preserving the financial resources that the U.S. has spent on military aid to Ukraine.
