Donald Trump responded to Ukrainians who may be disappointed by the fact that their officials were not invited to peace talks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he would not accept any agreement unless he and representatives of European countries are at the table, CNN reports.
“I think I have the power to end this war, and I think it’s going well. But today I heard: ‘Oh, well, we weren’t invited.’ Yes, you’ve been there for three years. You should have ended it after three years. You should never have started it. You could have reached an agreement,” Trump wrongly claimed about Ukraine.
The American leader said that he could have “reached an agreement” for Ukraine if he had been president of the U.S. when the war broke out in 2022.
“I could have reached an agreement for Ukraine that would have given them almost all the territory,” said the 78-year-old.
“Everything, almost all the territory. And no one would have been killed, and no city would have been destroyed,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, American and Russian officials have discussed the issue today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, without the presence of Ukraine.
