On February 16, 2025, President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received a congratulatory letter from U.S. President Donald J. Trump on the occasion of Kosovo’s 17th Independence Day.

In his message, President Trump praised the people of Kosovo for their journey towards independence, highlighting the resilience and determination that have accompanied this process. He underscored the strong support the United States has for Kosovo and its commitment to building a democratic society for all its citizens, without discrimination.

The letter further emphasized the robust ties between the two nations, with Trump expressing his anticipation to expand these connections, particularly through increased investment opportunities. He stated, “The links between our peoples are strong, and we look forward to expanding them, especially through increasing opportunities for investment, to bring more prosperity to both our countries. The United States will continue to work with Kosovo in strengthening democratic institutions and promoting economic growth through a sustainable and fair business environment.”

Trump also stressed the importance of further integrating Kosovo into the Euro-Atlantic community, recognizing Kosovo’s unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
