Former US President Donald Trump has called on Netflix to remove former Democratic national security official Susan Rice from its board—or “face the consequences”—as the streaming giant attempts to acquire Warner Bros Discovery.
Trump’s remarks mark his return to the Netflix–Paramount Skydance clash over the Hollywood studio acquisition, after previously stating he would stay out of the issue. Both proposed deals require approval from federal regulators.
The president’s intervention came after encouragement from Maga influencer Laura Loomer.
“Netflix must immediately fire Susan Rice, a racist and crazy hater of Trump—or face the consequences. She has no talent or skill—she is just a political figure!” Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social on Saturday, reposting a message from Loomer on X urging him to “stop the Netflix–Warner Bros merger now.”
Rice served as National Security Advisor and US Ambassador to the UN under Barack Obama and has also been part of President Joe Biden’s domestic policy council. She joined Netflix’s board in 2018–2020 and was reappointed in 2023.
“HER POWER IS OVER AND WILL NEVER RETURN. How much is she paid and for what??” Trump added.
Rice, in a podcast with former US Attorney Preet Bharara on Thursday, warned that companies “bowing to Trump” would face serious consequences if her party returned to power in Washington.
“They will be completely unprepared,” she said, predicting Democrats would push a “accountability agenda” and urging companies to “preserve documents” and be ready for official inquiries.
“If these corporations think Democrats will play by the old rules when they come back into power… they are seriously mistaken,” she added.
In a lengthy social media post Saturday, Loomer—who holds no official role but previously influenced Trump to remove national security officials—asked:
“Does Netflix support a board member who threatens half the country with state power and political revenge for the choice of president?”
“This is as anti-American as it gets, and Netflix is proving every day that it’s an anti-American, ‘woke’ company,” she added.
Loomer claimed that Netflix’s acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery would benefit Barack and Michelle Obama and fill the platform with “positive messaging” for Democrats.
