Protests in Los Angeles against the arrest and deportation of immigrants have entered their fourth day.
U.S. President Donald Trump has deployed an additional wave of 2,000 National Guard officers and 700 Marines in response to the protests a move that prompted California Governor Gavin Newsom to call the president “insane” and “dictatorial.”
Newsom has warned of legal action, stating that Trump violated the Constitution by deploying the National Guard without seeking his prior approval.
Rubber bullets, flashbang grenades, and other non-lethal weapons have been used against protesters.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has accused Trump of inciting chaos, pointing out that raids are still ongoing, while his former aide Steve Bannon has said that she should be arrested.
New rallies are beginning across the U.S. against immigration authorities.
