U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that deporting individuals born in the United States “might be the next task” for his administration.
While commenting on the growing list of violent crimes, Trump said that some criminals are not newcomers, but long-standing residents of the country.
“Many of them were born in our country. I think we should get them out immediately. That will be the next task we’ll work on together,” Trump said.
This isn’t the first time Trump has floated the idea. His administration has previously attempted to revoke automatic birthright citizenship for individuals born on U.S. soil — a principle enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.
