A U.S. federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s decision to freeze federal grants and loans, potentially worth trillions of dollars, according to the Associated Press.
Judge Loren L. AliKhan issued the injunction on Tuesday afternoon, just minutes before the measure was set to take effect. The White House had planned to suspend certain federal grants and loans but stated that not all programs would be affected.
The Trump administration had halted financial aid programs through the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), citing executive orders aimed at ending Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, a key policy shift since Trump took office last week.
