U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that a massive military parade will be held in Washington, D.C. this weekend to mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, warning that any protesters attempting to disrupt the event would face a “very strong force.”
“We’re going to have a big celebration on Saturday,” Trump told reporters from the Oval Office. “If any protester shows up, they will be met with very strong force,” he declared.
The parade not only celebrates the historic milestone of the U.S. Army but also coincides with Trump’s 79th birthday, adding to the scale and symbolism of the event.
The announcement comes just days after U.S. troops were deployed to Los Angeles to respond to protests against operations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Anyone who wants to protest will face strong force,” Trump repeated, while noting that no official reports of planned protests at the event had been received so far.
The upcoming parade underscores Trump’s ongoing emphasis on military strength, law enforcement, and public order, which remain central themes of his presidency and 2024 campaign rhetoric.
