The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, will meet this Thursday with the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, at his home in Florida, reports Reuters.
The full agenda of their meeting is not known, but according to one of the Reuters sources, the war in Ukraine will be among the topics of conversation between them.
Orbani, a staunch supporter of Trump, unexpectedly visited Kiev, Moscow and Beijing, for talks which he presented as a “peace mission”.
His meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin has particularly angered some NATO allies, who said his visit lent legitimacy to Putin’s claims to occupied Ukrainian territory since Russia launched invasion in 2022.
Orban is in Washington, where he attended the NATO summit this week.
The news of the meeting between Orbán and Trump was first reported by Bloomberg.
In recent months, foreign officials have repeatedly sought meetings with Trump and his top advisers to try to discuss his foreign policy should he defeat Democratic President Joe Biden in the Nov. 5 election.
Polls show Trump has a wide lead against Biden.
One of his advisers, Keith Kellogg, met with several high-level foreign officials on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Reuters reported this week.
Orban met with Trump for the last time in early March.
After that meeting, the nationalist prime minister offered support to Trump in the presidential race.
