U.S. President Donald Trump said he does not believe that a war with Iran will resume.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Iran had targeted several ships and that the United States responded with much stronger force, according to the BBC.
“I don’t think it will start again. I think it will end very quickly. They hit some ships, and so we hit them much harder.”
He added:
“But when they hit, we hit. We use their language and we speak their language.”
Trump’s comments come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides exchanging warnings and threats over possible military escalation.
