U.S. President Donald Trump hosted an iftar dinner at the White House, acknowledging the importance of Ramadan and expressing gratitude to the Muslim community for their support during the 2024 election.

“Good evening and welcome to this very special iftar dinner. As we are in the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, let me begin by saying to my Muslim friends – Ramadan Mubarak,” said Trump.

The event was attended by Muslim community leaders, diplomats, and government officials.

“Ramadan is a season of spiritual reflection and self-restraint,” Trump continued. “Each day during the holy month, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, deepening their focus on prayer and devotion to God. Then, Muslims around the world gather every night with family and friends to thank the Almighty and break their fast with the iftar dinner. We are all seeking peace for the entire world,” he said, as reported by the Associated Press and relayed by Klankosova.tv.

‘A Very Special Thank You’

Addressing the gathering, Trump thanked American Muslims for what he described as their “record-breaking numbers” of support in the recent election.

“I want to express a very special thank you to the hundreds of thousands of American Muslims who supported us in record numbers in the 2024 presidential election. It was incredible. We started a little slow with you, but we got there,” he said. “The Muslim community was there for us in November, and as long as I’m president, I’ll be there for you.”

During his remarks, the American president also reaffirmed his administration’s diplomatic efforts in the Middle East.

“We’re keeping our promises to the Muslim community. My administration is engaged in relentless diplomacy to create lasting peace in the Middle East, building on the historic Abraham Accords, which everyone said would be impossible. And now, we are beginning to fulfill them,” he stated.
