U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but emphasized that he is not finished engaging with him. This statement was made during an interview with the BBC, published on Tuesday, just hours after Trump announced a new package of weapons for Ukraine and issued threats of sanctions against Russia.

“I’m disappointed in him (Putin), but I’m not done with him. But yes, I’m disappointed,” Trump told the BBC, as reported by Klankosova.tv.

He added: “We’ll have a great conversation. I’ll say: ‘This is good, I think we’re close to an end,’ and then he’ll go and drop a building in Kyiv.”

On Monday, President Trump announced additional military support for Ukraine and warned of potential sanctions against purchasers of Russian exports if Moscow refuses to agree to a peace deal—a major policy shift prompted by Trump’s growing frustration with Russia’s continued assault on Ukraine.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment by Reuters.
