President Donald Trump gave an interview to The Atlantic, where Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg was inadvertently drawn into an internal discussion about a potential U.S. military strike on Houthi terrorists, reports Rks News.
For weeks, journalists had heard about Trump’s more relaxed demeanor in his current term. When asked directly about this, Trump gave a surprising response.
“I’m having a lot of fun, considering what I do. You know, what I do is such a serious thing. Honestly, the first time, I had two things to deal with — running the country and surviving. I’m not joking. I had all these corrupt people in my way. The second time, it’s different, because I’m running the country and the world. No one can stop me.”
Asked about rumors that he had ordered the Department of Justice to explore a potential run for a third term, Trump initially denied it but not categorically.
“That would be a huge blow to democracy, wouldn’t it? Well, maybe I’m just trying to destroy the democratic norms people talk so much about. But I’ve seen them erode over the years, and no one used to talk about them back then.”
He acknowledged that many of his supporters are encouraging him to run again, but said it would be very difficult.
“Let’s be serious running again isn’t something I’m looking to do, and I think it would be a very difficult thing to pull off.”
