U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he may travel to the Middle East in the coming days, mentioning significant progress in the ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations.
“We have a good chance of success,” Trump told reporters from the White House, as reported by international media.
“I might go there toward the end of the week—maybe Sunday, in fact,” he added. “The talks are going very well.”
Speaking during a roundtable discussion, Trump praised his team, saying, “We have a great group of negotiators out there, truly outstanding.”
He noted that “almost everyone” is involved in the talks, including Muslim and Arab nations, while final-stage negotiations continue with Hamas.
His comments came as delegates from Israel and Hamas entered a third day of indirect negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, with senior officials from Qatar, Turkey, and the U.S. participating.
The discussions are reportedly based on a 20-point peace framework proposed by Trump last month, aimed at ending the two-year conflict in Gaza.
