Hundreds of people took to the streets across several European countries on Saturday to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk, following a turbulent week for financial markets after Trump announced sweeping global tariffs, Reuters reports.
The “Hands off!” protest in Frankfurt, Germany, was organized by Democrats Abroad, the official Democratic Party organization for Americans living overseas.
In Berlin, demonstrators gathered outside a Tesla exhibition, holding signs urging Americans living in Germany to join the protests. At Frankfurt’s Opernplatz, members of the Democrats Abroad group demanded Trump’s resignation, waving banners that read “Bring back democracy” and “Hands off our personal data.”
In Berlin, Musk was also targeted, with protest signs reading “Shut up, Elon, no one voted for you.”
Meanwhile, in Paris, around 200 people, mostly Americans, assembled at Place de la République to voice their opposition to Trump. Some gave speeches criticizing the president, while the crowd held placards stating “Resist tyranny” and “Save democracy.”
Protests against Trump and Musk were also reported in other European cities, including London and Lisbon.
Similar demonstrations were held in the United States on the same day.
