Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a scathing response to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following Khamenei’s declaration of victory over Israel and public criticism of Trump.
Posting on his platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“Why would the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of a war-ravaged country, foolishly and openly claim he won the war with Israel when he knows that statement is a lie? As a man of faith, he should not lie.”
He went further, revealing what he described as a high-level decision to spare Khamenei’s life:
“His country was destroyed, three of his evil nuclear facilities were wiped out, and I knew exactly where he was hiding. I didn’t allow Israel or the U.S. Armed Forces – still the largest and most powerful in the world – to end his life.”
“I saved him from a horrible and shameful death,” Trump claimed.
He also described what could have been a massive military operation:
“In the final act of war, I asked Israel to turn back a very large fleet of aircraft headed straight for Tehran, anticipating a major day – possibly a total takedown! It would’ve caused massive damage and killed many Iranians. It was poised to be the largest strike of the war.”
Trump said that in recent days he had been working on possibly lifting sanctions and introducing other measures to give Iran a better chance at economic and diplomatic recovery. But, he added, “Instead, I received a declaration full of anger, hatred, and disgust, and I immediately abandoned all efforts to ease sanctions and more.”
“Iran must return to the path of global order, or things will only get worse for them,” Trump warned. “They are always so angry, hostile, and dissatisfied – and look what that has brought them: a scorched country, blown to pieces, no future, a shattered army, a terrible economy, and death all around.”
