US President Donald Trump has praised NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for ensuring that the alliance takes steps forward.
Trump says he shares the same goal with Rutte.
“NATO is moving forward thanks to this man. This man is someone who only knows how to move forward. And we have the same goal in mind. We want the war to end, and he is doing his job. He knows how to do a good job. That’s one thing. That’s why I fought for him to get that position, because there were other candidates, and I’m telling you, they wouldn’t have done a very good job,” said Trump.
While Trump showered him with compliments, Rutte jokingly said he would need a recording of those words for his family’s archive.
It is worth noting that Rutte recently visited Kosovo, where he was welcomed by the country’s leaders.
