U.S. President Donald Trump has commented on the recent incident involving the plane of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which was forced to make an emergency landing in Bulgaria after Russia allegedly jammed its GPS signal.

“Well, she had an interesting event. She’s a remarkable woman,” Trump said.

The U.S. president noted that “no one knows” why the GPS system on von der Leyen’s plane stopped working, before adding:

“But they took away her ability to use a phone. Sometimes that’s a good thing.”

Emergency Landing After GPS Jammed

On September 1, von der Leyen’s aircraft made an emergency landing in Bulgaria after its GPS navigation system was disrupted by Russian interference. The pilot was forced to land using paper maps due to the failure.

Russia Denies Involvement

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov denied that Russia had any involvement in the incident, rejecting Western claims of GPS jamming.
