U.S. President Donald Trump once again referenced Kosovo and Serbia today during a White House appearance with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. Trump made these remarks in the context of his purported success in preventing conflicts globally.

He asserted that he had halted conflicts between Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, as well as between Serbia and Kosovo. “We have been successful in resolving war issues… India-Pakistan, we resolved it with Congo and Rwanda, a conflict that lasted for 30 years… Serbia and Kosovo, we resolved it, something that was going to happen…” Trump stated.

The topic of stopping a war between Serbia and Kosovo has been frequently brought up by Trump recently. Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, during a recent visit to the U.S., publicly affirmed Trump’s claims. This led to a sharp reaction from Richard Grenell, Trump’s former special envoy for the region, who accused Osmani of manipulating Trump’s statements. President Osmani has indicated she will address Grenell’s accusations in a press conference upon her return to Kosovo.
