President Donald Trump stated that he “discussed Ukraine in fairly strong terms” during his recent phone calls with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Given the rhetoric the U.S. has recently used toward Europe, European leaders, and Ukraine, it is not hard to imagine that the three European leaders felt the need to somewhat push back against the tone coming from the White House, reports The Guardian.

The key question now is what comes next. Trump revealed that European leaders are trying to convince him to travel to Europe this weekend for a face-to-face meeting to discuss the latest developments, with the possibility of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joining.

However, Trump did not sound very inclined, at least for now:

“I think we had some minor disagreements on a few individuals, and we’ll see how it goes. And we said that before we go to a meeting, we want to know a few things.

They would like us to attend a meeting this weekend in Europe, and we will make a decision based on what they come back with. We don’t want to waste time,” he said.
