In an interview with NBC News, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will “scale back” attacks on Lebanon ahead of upcoming negotiations between Iran and the United States, BBC reports via Rks News.

“I spoke with Bibi, and he will speak quietly. I think we should be a little calmer,” Trump told NBC News following a phone call with Netanyahu.

In addition to confirming that Israel will reduce military operations, Trump said he is “very optimistic” that a peace agreement will be reached during talks in Islamabad.

The U.S. President added that Iran is “agreeing to everything it needs to agree on,” and that Iranian officials are “much more reasonable” when not speaking to the press.
