U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope for “good news” regarding efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, but insisted that the conflict would not impact the United States.

I hope we’ll have some good news for you,” Trump said. “But again, it does not affect the United States.” Addressing UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he added, “And you, look, it doesn’t affect you that much either. Certainly, you are much closer to the scene than we are.”

Prime Minister Starmer intervened, emphasizing the need to apply additional pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Only when the president has exerted pressure on Putin has he shown any tendency to act,” Starmer said.

Earlier, Trump acknowledged that Russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine had been more difficult to resolve than initially expected, noting that Putin had disappointed him.

The remarks come amid ongoing international discussions about coordinated measures to bring an end to the conflict and strengthen pressure on Moscow.
