U.S. President Donald Trump has refrained from providing concrete details about setting up direct peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, but he has suggested a possible location for hosting the talks, reports Rks News.

In a social media post, Trump wrote:

“The Vatican, represented by the Pope, has expressed strong interest in hosting the negotiations.”

This statement comes after Senator JD Vance met with the newly appointed Pope Leo XIV, during which Vance extended an invitation for a visit to the White House.

According to Trump, involving the Vatican as a neutral venue could help foster a more favorable atmosphere for achieving a ceasefire and beginning peace talks.
