U.S. President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for talks at the White House next Monday, according to the U.S. administration.

This visit comes as the American leader has begun to intensify efforts with the Israeli government to broker a ceasefire and a hostage deal, aiming to end the conflict in Gaza. An official who provided the information spoke on condition of anonymity, as the visit has not yet been officially announced, AP reports.

Netanyahu’s visit follows that of Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer to Washington this week, where he held discussions with senior U.S. administration officials regarding the Gaza ceasefire, Iran, and other pressing issues.

Focus on Gaza Ceasefire Efforts

In his public comments, President Trump has signaled his focus on efforts to halt fighting between Israel and Hamas, particularly since the ceasefire that ended 12 days of clashes between Israel and Iran a week ago.

“We think that within the next week, we will reach a ceasefire in Gaza,” Trump told reporters on Friday, without providing further explanation.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated on Monday that Trump and administration officials are in continuous communication with Israeli leaders and that ending the conflict in Gaza is a priority for Trump.
