U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he is still uncertain whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to end the war in Ukraine, but promised that he will know the answer within the next two weeks.
Speaking to reporters, Trump also warned that if it turns out Russia is spying on the United States, his response will be markedly different.
“We’ll find out if he’s spying on us or not, and if he is, we’ll respond a little differently,” said Trump.
When asked why he hasn’t yet imposed sanctions on Russia, Trump explained that he doesn’t want to undermine the possibility of a peace deal.
“I don’t want to destroy the chances for an agreement. If necessary, I will sit down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and with Putin,” he said, according to Sky News.
