The President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Monday dismissed reports claiming that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, opposed a potential U.S. military strike against Iran, calling those claims false and misleading.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that media reports suggesting General Caine was against military action were “100 percent inaccurate” and accused what he described as “fake news media” of spreading unverified information.

His comments came after local media reports indicated that Caine had advised Trump and senior officials that a military campaign against Iran could carry significant risks.

“I am the one who makes the decision,” Trump said, emphasizing that he would prefer reaching an agreement rather than escalating tensions. However, he warned that if negotiations fail, Iran should be prepared for serious consequences.

“I would prefer that we have a deal rather than not having one, but if we don’t reach a deal, it will be a very bad day for that country and, unfortunately, for its people,” Trump stated.

The remarks come amid rising tensions in the region and growing international concern about the potential for escalation if diplomatic efforts do not succeed.
