U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that he may impose new sanctions against Russia, but only if he deems it necessary.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump stated he would consider this option if Russia fails to reach an agreement or stop the bloodshed in Ukraine.
He added that the final decision on sanctions rests with him, despite senators having supported a bill to strengthen them. Trump emphasized that the proposed legislation is “very difficult” and that if he decides to implement sanctions, much time would be saved.
However, he has not yet made a final decision and will await developments in the situation before taking a definitive stance.
