During a press conference at the NATO summit in The Hague, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin could potentially invade other countries after the war in Ukraine concludes.

When asked if he considered Putin an adversary and if Putin harbored territorial ambitions beyond Ukraine, Trump replied, “It’s possible.”

Putin’s Mediation Offer and Trump’s Response

Trump also revealed that Putin had contacted him to offer help in resolving the conflict in the Middle East, proposing to act as a mediator among the U.S., Israel, and Iran. Trump said he declined this offer, telling Putin that he could “help better with Russia.”

Trump has previously indicated that he is in regular contact with Putin, particularly regarding the Ukraine issue. He also announced that he had a “good meeting” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the summit and is considering supplying Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems.

At the two-day summit in The Hague, all 32 NATO allies agreed to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP within 10 years.
