Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach, where he was welcomed by U.S. President Donald Trump, CNN reports via Reporteri.net.
The leaders are expected to discuss the next phase of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan, which includes disarming Hamas, establishing a new governance structure in the Gaza Strip, and reconstruction efforts.
Ahead of the meeting, Trump stated that he would attempt to initiate “as soon as possible” the second phase of the Gaza Peace Plan, emphasizing the necessity of Hamas disarmament:
“Very soon, as soon as we can, but there must be disarmament. We need to disarm Hamas,” Trump said.
More than two months after Trump traveled to Egypt to sign the initial peace agreement for Gaza, key aspects of the deal remain unresolved, while Israel continues to tighten its military control over the heavily impacted enclave.
