Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived at the White House today, where he was received by former U.S. President Donald Trump, outside of the Western Bloc framework.

When asked about a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Trump responded:

“There’s always a chance.”

Earlier plans for a Trump-Putin meeting in Hungary were canceled by the American president, following a phone call last month.

During the session in the Cabinet Room, Trump praised Orban:

“He has done a fantastic job, he’s a very strong person in his country, but also very beloved. He has led a truly remarkable nation.”

Trump also described Orban as a “special person”, confirming that discussions would focus on the war in Ukraine and energy issues.

“I just want to welcome this really good person. He is an excellent leader,” Trump added.
