U.S. President Donald Trump has withdrawn Canada’s invitation to join the newly established “Peace Board,” marking the latest escalation in diplomatic tensions between the two North American allies.

In a post published on Truth Social, Trump addressed Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, stating that the invitation had been formally revoked.

“Please allow this letter to serve as notice that the Peace Board is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada’s membership,” Trump wrote.

The decision follows recent remarks by Prime Minister Carney, who warned earlier this week of a growing “fracture” in the U.S.-led global order, comments that drew significant attention and criticism in Washington.

Canada had previously signaled its willingness to join the Peace Board, although officials indicated that Ottawa would not contribute financially to the initiative. Despite this, participation appeared likely until the invitation was abruptly withdrawn.

Meanwhile, European Council President António Costa acknowledged that European leaders hold serious reservations about the scope and mandate of the Peace Board. However, he emphasized that the European Union remains open to cooperation, particularly regarding peace and humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

The Peace Board, launched under Trump’s initiative, has generated mixed reactions internationally, with some allies welcoming dialogue mechanisms while others question its structure, legitimacy, and geopolitical intentions.
