U.S. President Donald Trump has referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “dictator” in a scathing post on Truth Social, accusing him of mismanaging the war with Russia and refusing to hold elections.

“Zelensky has done a terrible job—his country is destroyed, and millions have died for nothing,” Trump wrote, adding that the Ukrainian leader “better move fast, or he won’t have a country left.”

Trump, who has been vocal in criticizing U.S. aid to Ukraine, claimed that Zelensky persuaded America to spend $350 billion on a “war that cannot be won and should never have started.” He also accused Biden of failing to negotiate peace and suggested that Zelensky’s government has lost track of half of the aid money received.

The post has sparked backlash from both U.S. and European officials, as well as Ukrainian leaders, who have repeatedly warned that Trump’s potential return to the White House could lead to a drastic shift in U.S. support for Ukraine.

Trump further asserted that only his administration could successfully negotiate an end to the war, while Biden and European leaders had failed. His remarks come amid growing concerns over the 2024 U.S. presidential election and its implications for Ukraine’s war effort.
