U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters on Friday after his confrontation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office, told reporters that “it didn’t go well.”

He said Zelensky “overstepped” and reiterated his claim that Zelensky showed little strength in potential peace negotiations.

Trump said Zelensky would be “strong” if he signed the proposed U.S. mineral deal, as reported by the BBC.

“He wants to keep fighting, fighting, fighting, we want to end the death,” Trump added.

When asked what the Ukrainian leader should do to restart talks, Trump said, “He should say, ‘I want to make peace.’”

He then repeated his threat to withdraw U.S. support: “Either we end it or we leave him to fight.”
