U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a full ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, marking the end of the “Twelve-Day War” between the two nations.

Trump made the announcement via a post on his Truth Social platform at around 6:00 p.m. local time Monday in Washington D.C. (22:00 GMT), stating that the ceasefire would go into effect “approximately six hours from now.”

This six-hour window — which expired at 04:00 GMT (7:00 a.m. in Israel, 7:30 a.m. in Tehran) — was intended to allow both Iran and Israel to de-escalate and complete any “final missions.”

According to Trump:

Iran would begin observing the ceasefire first, at 04:00 GMT on Tuesday.

Israel would follow 12 hours later, at 19:00 local time (16:00 GMT).

Israel is then expected to observe the ceasefire for 12 hours, after which the truce will be considered fully in effect.

Trump stated that this timeline would mark the official end of what he termed the “Twelve-Day War” between Israel and Iran.
