Keith Kellogg, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy for the Ukraine conflict, met with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Thursday.

After the meeting, the two high-ranking officials were expected to hold a joint press conference, but the Ukrainian side stated that the Americans requested its cancellation.

Referring to the meeting, Zelensky posted on social media saying that Ukraine was ready to work quickly and tirelessly to achieve a strong and beneficial agreement on investments and security with the United States.

“We must and can ensure that peace is strong and sustainable – so that Russia no longer attacks us.”

Trump’s envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, said on Wednesday, before the meeting with Zelensky, that he was going to Kyiv to listen.

President Trump is seeking a swift end to the war in Ukraine and also aims to restore ties with Russia, as well as invest in Ukraine’s mineral resources.

Recently, Ukraine rejected an initial U.S. plan on minerals, stating that it did not include security guarantees for Kyiv.

However, on Wednesday, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said that Ukraine must stop criticizing the United States and agree to the deal on minerals.
