Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Thursday that Ankara opposes any military action against Iran, emphasizing that preventing regional destabilization remains the top priority.

“We are against a military action against Iran,” Fidan said at a press conference in Istanbul, adding that Turkey will continue its diplomatic initiatives regarding Iran.

He noted that Iran is under sanctions due to certain regional and international policies, and urged Tehran to resolve its regional issues through dialogue.

Fidan also stressed that some analysts misinterpret protests in Iran, which stem from legitimate economic grievances, as a rebellion against the government.

Regarding the recent announcement by the Trump administration that countries doing business with Iran could face a new 25% tariff, potentially affecting Turkey, Fidan clarified that this is only a statement, not a formal presidential decree, and that Turkey has not yet included the matter of tariffs on its agenda.
