Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during a visit to Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, emphasized the urgent need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, proposing a framework for achieving permanent peace within this year, reports Rks News.

Fidan highlighted the significance of the negotiations held in Istanbul on May 16, calling them a fresh start for dialogue between the parties.

He called for the organization of a high-level summit involving Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The goal of the summit would be to achieve a long-term ceasefire and pave the way for a final resolution to the conflict.

Fidan also warned of the war’s impact on European security architecture and transatlantic relations, stressing that Ukraine continues to bear the highest cost. “The destroyed cities are Ukrainian, the lives lost are Ukrainian soldiers’. This war must stop as soon as possible,” the Turkish minister concluded.
