The foreign ministers of Turkey, the United States, and Syria are set to meet in Turkey on Thursday, following an informal NATO foreign ministers’ meeting, to discuss the details of U.S. President Donald Trump’s pledge to lift sanctions against Syria.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the planned meeting, as reported by The Guardian.
Speaking to TRT, Fidan described the potential meeting between President Trump, Syrian President al-Sharaa, and Turkish President Erdogan as an event of “historical significance.”
He added that the foreign ministers of the three countries will convene to discuss the implementation of the agreement for the removal of sanctions and the subsequent steps forward. This meeting indicates a potential shift in the regional dynamics, particularly regarding the U.S. policy towards Syria.
