A 37-year-old Turkish national residing in Tirana has been arrested by the Police on suspicion of recruiting foreign nationals through online photo advertisements and exploiting them for prostitution.

In an announcement, the Albanian Police reported that during this police operation, codenamed “Foreign Escort,” nine foreign nationals were also charged with prostitution.

The foreign nationals were recruited from China and Kazakhstan, and prostitution was carried out in a rented apartment owned by the Turkish national in Tirana.

The police seized a significant amount of money, suspected to be proceeds from this activity, three mobile phones, and nine credit cards.

“Recruiting foreign nationals who were then exploited for prostitution through online photo advertisements, a Turkish national has been arrested. Nine foreign nationals have been charged with prostitution. A significant sum of money suspected to be obtained from this activity, three mobile phones, and nine credit cards were seized. As part of Operation ‘Foreign Escort,’ I.Y., a 37-year-old Turkish national residing in Tirana, was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of ‘Prostitution’ and ‘Running premises for prostitution.’ Nine foreign nationals were charged with prostitution. Investigations continue to identify other individuals involved in this activity and to fully document the case,” the statement read.
