KFOR has announced that Turkish troops from its reserves have completed their deployment in the NATO-led mission, replacing Italian units previously stationed in Kosovo.
In a statement, the peacekeeping mission confirmed that approximately 350 personnel from the Turkish 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade would conduct various activities alongside KFOR troops and be on standby to respond to any significant developments in the security situation.
“KFOR has well-positioned and capable resources to prevent any potential escalation and to address any security scenarios, in line with its long-standing UN mandate,” the statement read.
KFOR emphasized its continued commitment to contributing to a secure and peaceful environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo, ensuring freedom of movement at all times and impartially. The mission also works closely with the Kosovo Police and EULEX, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo.
