Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sharply criticized European leaders who attended Russia’s Victory Day military parade in Moscow, stating that “everyone who was there has shamed themselves.”

His remarks came during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in Nancy, France, following the signing of a Treaty of Friendship and Enhanced Cooperation between Poland and France.

Tusk pointed specifically to the presence of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was the only official from an EU country to attend the Red Square ceremony.

“I try not to comment on the behavior of other state leaders,” said Tusk, “but there is no doubt that it is disgraceful to stand at the parade in Moscow and applaud Putin.”

Also attending the parade was Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, despite repeated warnings from the European Union. His attendance has stirred strong reactions across EU capitals, particularly in light of the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Earlier on Friday, France and Poland signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at deepening collaboration in defense, energy, nuclear development, and transport infrastructure. The treaty also includes a mutual assistance clause in case of military threats.
