Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has concluded discussions in London with the leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
The focus of the meeting was the latest draft of the peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
UK Labour leader Keir Starmer pledged that any agreement must include “strict” security guarantees for Ukraine.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron noted that Ukraine’s allies hold “many cards” ahead of the peace negotiations.
However, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed skepticism about “some of the details we are seeing in the documents coming from the American side.”
Merz’s comments come after former President Donald Trump accused Zelensky of not having read the latest proposal discussed over the weekend between American and Ukrainian officials—a pattern highlighted by our diplomatic correspondent, James Landale.
The talks inside Downing Street have concluded, and all four leaders were photographed together outside Number 10.
Later today, Zelensky will travel to Brussels to meet with NATO officials and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
